At the end of 16 August 1947
The collective government account reports accession in this region, but it does not establish a uniform, completed accession for the whole Abu map feature by 16 August 1947. The evidence does not establish a uniform, completed accession to India for this feature on 16 August 1947. [1][2]
Ruler, negotiators and other participants
The ruler or governing authority recorded for the snapshot is: Sirohi ruler and British leased/enclave administration historically overlapped in the Abu area; no separate “Raja of Abu” is assigned. [2]
Minor Maharao Tej Ram Singh; Dowager Maharani Krishna Kunwar Ba signed as regent, and M. K. Vellodi signed for India. [2]
How the relationship changed
Sirohi was administered through Bombay from January 1949. In January 1950 the Abu Road–Dilwara area was assigned to Bombay and the rest to Rajasthan. The map’s separate Abu label is not evidence of a separate sovereign prince. [2]
The documented sequence distinguishes these events: 5 January 1949 — bombay took over administration on India’s behalf; 25 January 1950 — territorial division implemented. [2]
Sirohi’s settlement is context, not proof of a separate Abu ruler
The source distinguishes Abu from Sirohi, but this does not establish another independent princely state. The area involved both the Sirohi ruler’s relationship to the territory and an earlier British leased or enclave administration. Its source-year geometry must be reconciled before the entire polygon can receive one 1947 constitutional label. [2]
The documented Sirohi settlement placed administration with Bombay on India’s behalf in January 1949. The later division assigned Abu Road and part of Dilwara to Bombay, with the remaining territory going to Rajasthan. Those changes explain why the Abu area needs its own geographical review, while providing no basis for inventing a separate ruler or a separate accession ceremony. [2]
What this mapped feature does—and does not—identify
The historical account and the identification of a polygon are separate pieces of evidence. A documented merger in a nearby state does not prove that an unnamed or ambiguous outline represents that state. Candidate identities on this page remain conditional. Where no event is securely assigned to this feature, the timeline stays empty rather than borrowing a candidate’s dates. [2]
The collective accession account is not an individual signed instrument. No exact signature or acceptance date is inferred. [2]
The extent and 1947 status of this separately drawn source feature need reconciliation with Sirohi and the former British lease. [2]
The timeline
Dates identify the event recorded. A month or year is left imprecise where the evidence does not supply a day.
